Saying Goodbye!

I regret that I haven't kept up with my posting - I can't believe how much time has passed. I am doing well and very excited about upcoming things in my life!

For many reasons, I have decided not to continue this blog. I have started a new one that is a personal journal between myself and my daughters (hopefully they will join in) and I may start a new one to share in the future. But for now, the journal with my daughters is a very special and important project for me and with everything else going on, I'm not sure if I can continue with a second blog. But who knows - I may be back and will be sure to let my friends know about the new site!!!

God Bless!

Prayers for Bentley

Please, again, keep Bentley in your prayers. He has developed a limp and I am really concerned. If he's not better, I will have to find a ride to the vet next week - it will be too far for us to walk.

Sorry for being away so long - there have been many trials and blessings - this one just another to help be grow in virtue. Just a quick story to share.

We had our first snow shower Tuesday evening - it caught several people off guard. I check the weather every evening so that I'm always prepared since I have to walk so much and Tuesday was a school day. The afternoon began with rain - as I walked to campus a young lady was waiting to catch the bus and looked at me miserably. She didn't have a jacket or umbrella - at least she had a hat on her head but it wasn't helping much to keep her dry and she was soaked. I had my umbrella and my coat has a hood but I was concerned for my own health and wasn't sure if I should offer my umbrella to her - I gave her a sympathetic smile but kept looking back after I passed and kept praying that someone would have something to offer her or that her bus would come quickly and kept wondering if I should go back.

I was bothered the whole evening that I didn't offer my umbrella and prayed for forgiveness. But the Lord is so merciful and offered me another opportunity that very evening after I arrived home. There was an urgent knock at my door - when I opened it, an older woman asked if she could rake my leaves for a dollar. You have to understand that there are many homeless people in the area that I live - one of the reasons I love to walk now so that I can offer them a kind word and a smile especially when Bentley and I are out walking at the park by my house. I thanked her for her kindness and told her that the weather was too windy and they would only blow away but to please accept a dollar. I hope it helped even if it was such a small amount - and who knows, maybe she was one of the Lord's angels in disguise!

An Abundance of Blessings!

What a glorious day - the Lord continues to bestow me with graces and blessings!!!

Two weeks ago, there was a knock on my door. Two women, with clipboards in hand, told me that their group would be returning in two weeks and asked if I needed any repairs or assistance inside or outside my home. I was blown away - I have been so busy with work and school that my little yard has been very neglected. So I was signed up and I've been anxiously waiting for this day.

I was contacted twice during the week to see what needed to be done. Originally I had only requested help with the front yard but asked if they could also work on my backyard or just give me some suggestions or recommendations so my vegetable gardens and flower beds would be better next year. I have fought back tears many times this week just thinking about today and how blessed I was to have this group coming to help me out.

I couldn't believe how many people showed up - it seemed like our entire block was full of volunteers!!! Now my yard is absolutely beautiful and my vegetable gardens have been cleared and amended with compost and ready for planting next year!

I am grateful to everyone that helped and especially to Lori and Bruce for inviting me to lunch!!! Please know that you will be in my prayers for a very long time!!!

I Am So Blessed!!!

It is an amazing Saturday morning to start off my restful weekend. Even though I'll be quite busy, I feel at peace and there are no plans for hectic errands. Instead I am home taking my time with chores before Jessica arrives to help me with the chicken and sausage gumbo preparations while Bentley is snoozing on the couch.

I wish this life could continue - I truly love being home and will miss it once my schedule takes another turn. I start a part-time job on Monday - which I am really excited about - and will continue to work for a property management company as soon as all the records come in from their former accountant. And all that will get juggled with my class schedule that is just 10 days away!!! Although I know it's a blessing that I'm getting back to work and love the idea that I'm finally returning to school after a years abscence, I will really miss being home and the leasure pace of my days.

There has been such a change in my life these past few months and I am so grateful for all the needs the Lord continues to provide me with! Losing my job and with no expectation of being able to secure another at the same income level because of my fibromyalgia, the craigslist ads grew and my car was brought back to the dealer I had purchased it from. Now giving up my car might sadden some of you but by this time I knew I would be heading back to Metro and that my health insurance and RTD fees would be covered in my student fees. I have no doubt now that the Lord foresaw what laid ahead when he found the perfect house for me - I couldn't be in a better location and I have the most amazing neighbors who are all willing to help me with Bentley once my long days away from home begin.

So yesterday was a typical day. A friend asked if I could help her by picking up her license plate stickers at the DMV. So before the day got too hot, I walked to church and then on to my bank to deposit her check. I returned home and gathered up my shopping cart and frozen icepaks and headed to the grocery store to purchase the ingredients for chicken and sausage gumbo! Home to unpack those with Bentley watching me get ready to leave yet again for a walk to the 10th and Osage lightrail station to travel to the DMV in Five Points. I returned and got off at the Auraria campus stop to take a quick bathroom break, cool off with a grape soda that I purchased from the hot dog vendor, and walk a different route home where I knew I'd pass a mailbox and could drop in some letters. Then home to shower, take care of some work, and relax for the rest of the evening.

I love that my only modes of transportation are now either by walking or public transportation - the routes I take change for various reasons but mostly depend not on the quickest timewise but the coolest because of the most shade provided. I have greeted and visited with so many amazing people and found neat spots and restaurants that I might not otherwise have discovered had I been driving my car. And my grocery shopping cart is a slick little device that finally arrived this week - it got it's first test run on Wednesday when I had to buy dogfood for Bentley. When I told one of my friends about it she laughed and made me promise not to start wearing a straw hat with flowers!

Well time to finish cleaning the kitchen - I've already started boiling the chicken to make the stock I need as well as cook the chicken for the chicken and sausage gumbo. Have a few pots and pans to handwash and put away to be sure there's plenty of counter top space available for each of us to chop vegetables. It will be a great time having Jessica here to chat with while we prepare tomorrow's feast for the Missionaries of Charity and the homeless women they house - hopefully someone from the community garden will respond to my request to donate some green tomatoes so I can also bring Fried Green Tomatoes.

My heart is bursting - Lord thank you for all your wonderful blessings. I have never been so happy!!!!

God Bless!

Thanks for your prayers - Bentley is ok!!!!

Praise God and St. Francis for prayers answered!!!! Results are in and Bentley's urinalysis is completely normal. So no diet change, no further tests, no stones - he is amazingly all well!!!!

Thanks for all my friends who prayed with us - I can't tell you how much this means to me.

Well a really long day! It started with an 8:30 interview followed by lots of errands that required way too much walking - note to self, wear better shoes next time! Now I need to go borrow neighbor's table before it rains and then shower all the sweat away and hopefully have the energy to make it to 6 pm mass. And at some point I need to get ready for my big sale tomorrow - drop me an email if you can join me or help out!!!!

God Bless!

Update on Bentley

Thanks for all your prayers! Bentley finished his antibiotic and was in for his recheck today. He has already picked up all the weight he lost plus two more pounds (or was one of the weighings incorrect?) and seems to be much better. The vet that saw him today said he looked great! But the urinalysis is being repeated and results won't be back until tomorrow or Friday - hoping nothing more serious than a diet change. Would really appreciate your continued prayers and I promise to let you know the results as soon as I have them.

So many other amazing things have been happening that I just have to hope that Bentley will be a little miracle as well!

God Bless!

Keep Us In Your Prayers Please!

So much has been going on that it has been difficult to keep up with my blog. But for now, I ask that you please keep us in your prayers. Bentley is sick and I'm hoping that the antibiotics that he starts today will clear up the problem. He gets rechecked in two weeks and, if he's not any better, then more tests will need to be done. He is so special to me and this will be an extremely difficult blow if he is seriously ill. I hope you can add prayers to St. Francis for me to heal him.

Thank you for your prayers!

God Bless,
Constance
